Install Your Certificate

Installing your certificate allows you to connect directly to your PC without errors, achieve faster speeds, more simultaneous connections, and true End-to-End encryption. Follow the instructions below for your particular device or web browser.

Android

  1. Open a web browser and connect to your PC.
  2. If connecting directly (no subscription) you'll see a certificate warning:
    • Click Advanced > Proceed to get past the warning
    • If on an insecure network, you can Verify Your Connection before proceeding
    • Once at the login page, tap the certificate icon in the upper-left
  3. Tap Install your certificate and use the link to download your certificate
  4. *Note: You may be required to setup a lock screen ( Settings > Lock Screen)
  5. If asked for a Certificate Name, enter one and select Use for VPN and Apps
  6. Otherwise, follow these steps:
    • Open your Settings app
    • Tap Biometrics and security > Other security settings > Install from Storage
      (Older Android versions: Tap Security > Install from Storage)
    • (New Android versions): Choose CA Certificate and acknowledge the warning. (Click here to learn more about this warning)
    • Browse to your Download folder (You may have to tap the menu icon)
    • Tap on your certificate
    • If asked for a Certificate Name, enter one and select Use for VPN and Apps
  7. *Note: If you don't have a lock screen setup, you'll have to acknowledge a Network Monitoring warning
  8. If using Firefox, follow the additional steps under Firefox (Mobile) below

iPhone / iPad

  1. Open a web browser and connect to your PC. (We'll use Safari in this example)
  2. If connecting directly (no subscription) you'll see a certificate warning:
    • Click Show Details > visit this website to get past the warning
    • If on an insecure network, you can Verify Your Connection before proceeding
    • Once at the login page, tap the certificate icon in the upper-left
  3. Tap Install your certificate and use the link to download your certificate
  4. Click Allow to download the certificate (Apple calls it a configuration profile)
  5. Open your Settings app
  6. Tap VPN & Device Management. If you don't see that option, tap General > Profile(s)
  7. Tap your certificate
  8. Tap Install at the top right and enter your passcode, if prompted
  9. Continue tapping Install until you see a green check mark, then tap Done
  10. Tap the back arrow at the top left until you are back in Settings
  11. Now, tap General > About > Certificate Trust Settings
  12. Tap the slider next to your certificate to Enable Full Trust, then tap Continue

Firefox (Mobile)

  1. First, follow the instructions under Android or iPhone / iPad
  2. Next, open the Firefox menu and go to Settings > About Firefox
  3. Tap on the Firefox logo 5 times and go back to Settings
  4. Click Secret Settings and enable Use third party CA certificates
  5. Restart Firefox

Firefox (Desktop)

  1. Connect to your PC using the Web Address
  2. If connecting directly (no subscription) you'll see a certificate warning:
    • Click Advanced > Add Exception > Confirm to get past the warning
    • If on an insecure network, you can Verify Your Connection before proceeding
    • Once at the login page, click the certificate icon in the upper-left
  3. Click Install your certificate and use the link to download your certificate
  4. Save the certificate in your Downloads folder
  5. Go to Menu > Options and type "certificate"
  6. Click View Certificates... > Authorities tab > Import
  7. Select your certificate from the Downloads folder
  8. Check the box marked, Trust to identify websites.
  9. Tap OK

Windows

  1. Open a web browser and connect to your PC. (We'll use Edge in this example)
  2. If connecting directly (no subscription) you'll see a certificate warning:
    • Click Advanced > Continue (unsafe) to get past the warning
    • If on an insecure network, you can Verify Your Connection before proceeding
    • Once at the login page, click the certificate icon in the upper-left
  3. Click Install your certificate and use the link to download your certificate
  4. Open the certificate file by double-clicking on it
  5. Click Install Certificate
  6. Select Current User and click Next
  7. Select Place all certificates in the following store
  8. Click Browse... and choose Trusted Root Certificate Authorities
  9. Click Ok > Next > Finish > Ok
